Browser Security

We are so concern about the security and if it is about ourself ,our resources ,our data or any our stuff .Browser is a software tool that runs on internet and we use to get information from web. It displays the web pages.It's main purpose is to bring requested information by a client from server. It is used on PC's as well as on mobile phones to get access to information.There are different technologies that support web browsers like java, frames, xhtml, jsp and many more, all these technologies have made easier to use internet.

Browser Risks

There are so many threats coming from the softwares being developed to take the advantage of vulnerable browser, they basically try to gain advantage of browser's weakness and they are designed to work upon their vulnerabilities. Malicious websites exploit vulnerabilities and browser allow to run the malicious code and it provide an easy way for attackers to get into the computer systems, as most of the users don't know how to configure their browser for security. Unwillingness of users to enable or disable functionality required to secure their browsers moves attacker more closer to breach security.

Cookies

Cookies are the piece of information that is sent by website to browser which is stored in browser and whenever user visit to same website again ,browser send back the cookie information to website which help websites to identify user's previous activities.

Cookies are the files stored on computer that contains the information about users such as their credential which allow websites to recognize a particular user.A cookie also contains the information about visited sites by user and contains information that a website is designed to place in it. A cookie is designed in such a way that only websites which create them can only read.

Spyware

Spyware is a software that get installed without the knowledge of user and get control over the user's interaction and secretly monitors user's activities and it's effects are more than just monitoring.Spyware enters into the system without user's consent and try to deceive users by binding with desirable softwares or by exploiting browsers vulnerability.we will talk more about spyware in details in our coming posts and talk in details how phishing try to spoof various parts of browser user interface.

Some Tips for users to prevent browser risks

• Setup your browser's security to high.
• Always update your browser or use updated browser.
• Try to read e-mail messages in plain text.
• Add safe websites as trusted websites as many sites may contain malicious script ,active content that attempt to make user to provide information and performing action makes attacker to gain credentials.
• Block pop-up window in browser.
• Add safe websites as trusted websites
• Disable login and password remembering information.
• Set up browser such that it warns user while trying to install extensions or themes.
• Keep your systems patched and up to date.
